Yuhan and Oscotec were jointly awarded the “Best Pharmaceutical Product” for lazertinib (LECLAZA®/LAZCLUZE™) at the inaugural Prix Galien Korea Awards, held on September 10, 2026, at The Shilla Seoul.
Established in France in 1970, the Prix Galien recognizes innovations in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical technology, and other areas of healthcare. This year’s ceremony marked the first Prix Galien held in Korea and the award program’s first expansion into Asia.
The story behind lazertinib is itself a testament to the power of scientific innovation and global partnership. Originally discovered by Genosco, a subsidiary of Oscotec, the program was licensed to Yuhan Corporation in 2015 and subsequently partnered with Johnson & Johnson in 2018 for global development. In August 2024, lazertinib received U.S. FDA approval as LAZCLUZE™, in combination with RYBREVANT® (amivantamab), for the first-line treatment of patients with certain EGFR-mutated advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
What began as a Korea-originated discovery has since evolved through open innovation and global collaboration into an FDA-approved cancer therapy reaching patients worldwide. For Yuhan, the Prix Galien recognition represents more than an award for a single product, it reflects the company’s continued commitment to identifying promising science, advancing innovative therapies through strategic partnerships, and translating Korean innovation into medicines with global impact. The recognition is especially meaningful as Yuhan celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026, carrying forward founder Dr. Ilhan New’s enduring vision of developing medicines that contribute to human health.
As Yuhan enters its next century and continues to expand its global R&D and business development efforts, lazertinib stands as a defining example of what can be achieved through long-term investment in innovation and collaboration across the global biopharmaceutical ecosystem. Guided by the same founding principle, Yuhan remains committed to advancing innovative medicines, building meaningful global partnerships, and ultimately bringing better treatment options to patients around the world.
